When I was first told I would have to spend my next two years as an undersea animal of my choice, I was a bit perplexed, but finally settled on a Humboldt Squid. They are truly a family animal, living within groups that sometimes exceed 1,200 individuals. With their outstanding speed and maneuverability under the sea, they can deftly hunt alone or within a group. Another factor into my decision is the chromatophores, which may be part of a complex communication system. I look forward to this new set of experiences that lay before me.

All of the things that I hold near to me are there, waiting for me in Heaven.

I would tell my best friend that her worst trait is not keeping in better touch with me or making time for me.  I know as mother how much time that can take away from your everyday life.  But friendship is a true gift and needs to be at the top of the list as well.  I feel so sad at times knowing there is such a wonderful person like her out there and I can not spend time with her.  I would tell her that as her best friend she needs to make time for me, even if it just a short phone call or email to say she is thinking of me.  I think if she knew how I felt she would feel pressured into spending time with me and then feel guilty about losing time with the other aspects of her life. I know she would be sorry, but I also know she loves me and I am always in her heart.

I can not recall a time that I have given into peer pressure.  I have never been one to give into things that I do not want to do.  But it had a lot to do with the friends I had.  I knew they were my true friends and I could say no to whatever they suggested and I did.  That doesn’t mean they did not do it, but they never pressured me to do it as well.  I feel this will make it hard for me to understand it if and when my children do something because of peer pressure.  I have never known it and will not be able to relate to it and that scares me.

Avocados would be first on my list.  I have grown up eating avocados and they are one of my all time favorite foods and would remind me of home.  They have a very rich smooth taste and are very satisfying.  They also would provide me with good fat and some nutrients.  Unlike the next item I would eat – ice cream, vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup or just plain chocolate ice cream.  Either flavor would make me happy for the rest of my life.  As far as the third Item, I think I would have to go with sweet and juicy watermelon.  Watermelon is not only yummy, but it is fun to eat and spitting the seeds out is always a fun way to pass the time.

Hands down the most beautiful sight I have ever seen in my whole life is my two beautiful children.  From the first time I saw each of their heart beats on the ultrasound screen, to the time I see their sleeping faces in the morning I know they are the beautiful creations ever.  There is nothing else in this world that can make my heart smile or skip a beat at the same time.  They literally take my breath away.  Whether it is seeing the sparkle in their eyes or the tear stains on their cheek, I know I created these small humans and they are a part of my very being.

Winning the lottery would be a great thing for my family and me.  The first thing I would do with the winnings would be to make sure and put enough away for the future, whether it is for our future or our children’s future.  I would give any money that my parents or family needed to them.  I would then pay off our mortgage and any other bills that we may have and would take time off from work throughout the year to travel and take my children too many different places.  I would also take a big chunk and donate to a charity like Smile Trains and get a new library for the schools in our community.  I would make sure that we would have enough to last us and make us comfortable for the remainder of our lives.  I do know I would not use it for jets, islands or any other crazy items. I would most likely continue working or open up our own place of business.

A fun family tradition we have is singing.  At every family gathering we have there is always some type of singing.  Whether it is with karaoke or traditional music there is always music.  I feel it allows the family to come closer together and makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable around one another, especially if there is new family member that is just getting reacquainted with everyone again.  It is also something that everyone can participate in regardless of age or talent.  There are certain songs that “belong” to certain people and we know the party hasn’t started until those songs have been sung by that special person.  We always have fun and it makes great memories.
